Spot the robin
I was back to my normal pattern of waking at 3/4 am. Preferred being tired and sleeping right through. But it did mean there's was no hardship in getting up at 6.35.
The pool was busy, in fact it's much busier now than when I left. It meant a hard 45 minutes, avoiding people and the waves because of the guys in the fast lane who have to splash, a lot. I can't say I enjoyed it.
Although it was less sunny than yesterday with hazy cloud it was still dry. Took the car up to Burdiehouse for its service and once home did some housework, vacuuming. Don't think S did much! It was still fine and the sun was more in evidence so started to tackle the back. It helps that it's so sheltered.
Cut the grass, tidied up the roses and the hydrangea. The garden isn't looking too bad and there is frogspawn in the pond. Woke up the garden furniture and in between spoke to the roofers, and tried to find somewhere to eat tomorrow night that will suit picky #3 son (not the one where a burger is £21) and the pescatarian. It's a struggle to adjust as week I was getting a whole meal for much less than that.
After lunch collected the car and handed over all the crisps new banknotes, it's cash or cheque there and once home had a sad conversation with Y. She's up north struggling with her Mum who may have to be sectioned for her own protection. She's in her 90's. Y was at ARI with her so it was a short call.
Although it had clouded over it was still dry and mild so it was back to the garden. Tidied up the front, did some more chopping back in the back, the evergreen honeysuckle attacking the lilac tree, and filled the feeders. However, the peanut store has disappeared and the culprit was still in the bag. I let it out and Willow then got very interested. Finished up by tidying up the pyracantha. Then noticed that the skylight in the house over the back seemed to be damaged and open to the elements so messaged the owner. The birds (pigeon, magpies and a robin were interested in the loose seeds that I scattered, but difficult to capture through the window).
I still haven't been food shopping, couldn't be bothered to go to Straiton so dinner was left over pizza from yesterday. Watched the News for the first time and the updates about Heathrow. The first plane landing was an A380 repositioning from LGW. It had been odd looking at Flight Radar during the day and an empty LHR. No affect on EDI though other than a few cancelled flights. I did get a reply from EDI though about my trolley complaint. They also have a resilience and infrastructure problem, albeit more minor than a complete shutdown.
Still haven't fixed somewhere to eat tomorrow. If be cheaper paying there taxis for them to come up here. I'm too tired to care. But have arranged to see E next week and transferred the next instalment to WH as the exchange rate is pretty good. I've spent over £4k today.
Watched some more Astrid, avoiding RND, and then bed, and I don't have to get up early tomorrow. Yay!
Still appears to be a problem here with Google maps.
