Laundry Saga, cont'd

I hate to have to keep going on about this, but I want to document this saga just for myself. Feel free to skip the whole thing.

The delivery guy, yes just one wiry little guy, arrived with our washer and dryer. One of them, the white one can be seen in the back of the truck. He came in, checked the route from the truck to the laundry room went back out to the truck and came back in and said the counter had to be two inches higher. We stared at him in disbelief. He measured the actual machines as many times as we had measured the space under the newly raised counter. Fortunately the whole thing had a fairly happy ending. I texted David who came over right away. He talked to the delivery guy who brought the machines into the house with a very clever piece of equipment that 'climbed' the stairs, waited while David raised the counter another two inches and two hours later installed the washer and dryer. We are lucky that David was 'on call', and that the delivery guy was willing to wait.

We've sort of come full circle because the counter which I had hoped to use as a working surface for my heavy mixer is now too high to be used as a work surface. It's basically only a place to put things, but not necessarily a place to DO anything.  And the cabinet that goes between them is now a really tight fit. There are some big gaps that will have to be covered but we decided to wait before doing anything more.

I have now done a full load of washing and drying and they look great. And they are dry.

No matter what happens, I won't mention the words washer or dryer here again!
