Sally Mair - Loving life

Ready, Steady, Go

Today I had a day off - hooray!
First I went to the Rectory to touch base with the kitchen fitter. The new kitchen was all due to be delivered today. When I arrived the old kitchen was almost completely gone and on a lorry on its way to be disposed of. For my records, (See extra) I want to remind myself what it all looked like empty. The replacement kitchen windows and door were there but the rest hadn't been delivered by the time I left.
I went to Seafield to pick up a spare pack of the laminated flooring we put in last time - just in case it's needed. It's more than doubled in price over the five years. Thank you COVID.
As I was in Seafield I decided to head to Haddington for some lunch and hopefully a slightly warmer temperature. I had a good wander round the charity shops although I was disappointed that Cancer Research was closed. I came away with some very pretty cards from the Save The Children Shop, so my collection is topped up again.
I had lunch in Falko which was my other reason for going to Haddington. My main blip is my lunch which was described as soup, half sandwich and small chips served with cucumber salad. The sandwich was lemon basted chicken with apple and coleslaw. It was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.
I brought a piece of Cherry and Almond cake home, I had it for my dessert this evening. I also picked up a couple of almond and raisin brioche. I cut the latter in half and froze then and I'll pull a half out of the freezer for breakfast occasionally when I fancy a treat
