Life's Little Moments

Berner

I met up with my birder friends this morning for a walk through a marsh area and along the way we met a man with his Bernese Mountain Dog.  It's not a breed I often see so I asked if I could take some photos of her.  She wasn't all that happy to pose for me so I kept it very short and just took what I could get.  Berners are large dogs with females weighing 70-95 pounds.  They originate from Switzerland and were bred to be working dogs, hauling draft wagons and tending livestock.  They are known for their gentle dispositions and are considered to be great family dogs.

I've downloaded my "run" lists for tomorrow which will allow me to hopefully stay organized.  Lots of dogs registered for tomorrow's rally trial so I need to keep them all organized.  I will be shooting with two cameras (so I don't have to switch lenses) so having a system in place is essential.  I will load up my camera bag this evening so I'm ready to go tomorrow morning.

I started bringing my bird feeders in at night a few weeks ago but have been a bit remiss the last few nights.  So it was not a huge shock when I spotted one of my suet cages, completely flattened, in the back yard.  Then I noticed the bit of fence that was damaged.  Clearly, we had a black bear visit during the night, so I have to be very diligent about bringing all feeders in at sunset and also to checking the yard before we let Jax out.  I love living in the country, but I do wish we had fewer bears!

cheers,
Debbi
