2 dinners!

It’s been a busy day, not made easier with the sore knee. I did manage to get a GP phone appointment for 3 weeks’ time to discuss it. Maybe it will be better by then.

I was late getting out to see Ailie as Mr C had made an error on the visa forms so had to fill them in again on-line and I had to stay to sign mine. Meanwhile I made a dish (broccoli, bean and walnut bake) fromSaturday’s Guardian for our supper tonight. Given the state of my knee I didn’t walk over the moor to see Ailie. A rare thing - I took the car. We had a nice but brief catch up as she’s been in NZ since New Year. She has a house there near her daughter so she enjoyed time with her and the grandchildren.

However I couldn’t stay long as I needed to get back for a quick lunch then got a lift with Ros over to Alison’s for Knit and Stitch. Three of us were working on the bedspread. Adrienne was gifted the pattern and cotton for it but it’s such a huge project we thought it best to share making it and then we’ll raffle it for charity.

With reference to our house chaos - boring but I need a record - The conservatory chap arrived and worked well on putting in the window the others had broken, and rehanging the door which wouldn’t shut plus other lesser snagging issues. Some weren’t on his list so he has to come again on Tuesday with the appropriate bits to finish. We have noticed 2 other previously missed issues so will call the office on Monday.

Bathroom Chris had a meeting this morning so didn’t get here till 11 but he works so hard and efficiently. He cut the floor tiles to fit then numbered them and got on with putting in the underfloor heating.

#3 daughter phoned to discuss logistics for Luke’s dad’s funeral in Hull next Friday. It’ll be a 7 hour round trip for us. The children both want to go so we’ll probably drive them and daughter back so that Luke can stay longer for the wake. (They are of Irish heritage so I think that’s the appropriate word). We thought of bringing the children back and leaving daughter with Luke but I think the children might be upset at bedtime so it’s good she’s going to go home with them. Especially as Nathaniel has his last night in the play on Saturday so he’ll need a good sleep.

Dinner on the left is tonight and on right a Meera Sodha from Dinner.
