Chilly Saturday

I never underestimate the power of sunshine to influence how I see the world. There was very little around today which together with the wind and chilly air made it a bleak morning. Now that in the face of the inhospitable outside  I have retreated behind my door, the sun has staged a weak comeback lightening somewhat my mood and the world.

Although there are no stalwarts adorning the grass on the Meadow, I was startled after lunch to see a phalanx of bare chested young male students sprinting past on the other side of the railings- some sort of ‘taps aff’ race, I imagine. No sooner had they disappeared than there was an enormous din of chanting and waving of Palestinian Flags as a protest march gathered at the foot of Middle Meadow Walk and made their way towards the foot of Marchmont Road.

I regret not managing a blip of the bare young adonises - they were much to quick and so I’m left with just bare trees in east Princes Street Gardens,  a wave of Palestinian flags and Jenner’s under wraps while it’s renovated…. And yes the latter will host another hotel amongst other things.
