Mothering Sunday

It’s been such a big clan gathering today that I may not be able to sleep tonight after all the unaccustomed  company and hilarity.
It being Mothering Sunday in Britain, I was delighted to have the family arriving unexpectedly to the Dower House, all except eldest son in Elgin and youngest daughter in Yorkshire. The Glasgow family came with their lunch and enough Söderberg buns to feed the 5000. The others trickled in during the afternoon as we sat and roasted in the sun on the patio. It got so hot that we had to adjourn inside to avoid being burned to crisps. How often does that happen during the year far less the end of March?

Youngest daughter had sent me a lovely cake from Betty’s in Yorkshire which was eaten and pronounced  the best cake ever.
They have all gone now and I am left with my memories of a wonderful family get together,  much  laughter  and enough gin and chocolates to last a lifetime.
