Birds of a feather
Today was the Hampshire Ornithological Society's(HOS) annual Members' Day. More than 400 people attended. As always, it was an excellent event, which was kicked off by the HOS President, Chris Packham, seen here in action. There were a number of short presentations, including Woodlarks in the New Forest, The reintroduction of White Tailed Eagles to the Isle of Wight, nature -friendly farming in Hampshire, and the success of Roseate Terns nesting on the marshes near Lymington. Also, there were two exhibition halls for nature charities and nature travel companies.
Before the formal meeting began, a group of young ornithologists were treated to a meeting with Chris Packham where he shared his extensive collection of bird feathers with them! Later, a15 year old and a16 year old each gave excellent presentations , Amy on the roseate terns' breeding success, and Felix on a year in nature through his stunning photos.
