Bulletin Board
It's raining again and I spent much of the day at my worktable looking at this bulletin board resting on it. Seemed as good a photo subject as anything. Note the Covid vaccination card, and Tim and family mimicking The 'Queen' album cover....
Instead of a spoiler alert, I should say that this is a grumpy alert! I wasn't grumpy when I got up and I wasn't even grumpy when I read glanced at the paper. Not quite enough hell is breaking loose about the Defense department party on Signal, a public messaging app about a pending air attack on Houthi rebels in Suez and the post attack high-fiving. The military is up in arms over the jeopardy in which this put the fighter jet pilots involved. Especially since the military chiefs of staff were not invited. The story has lasted longer than most of the other daily scandals but, like them, It will probably just go away despite the astonishing incompetence.
I had a pretty open day to get my latest project mostly machine quilted and bound. I think it was listening to a book called Burn Book by Amy Swisher, a technology reporter about some of the biggest tech bros...Zuckerberg, Bezos, Musk, et.al. that began to give me an earworm of annoyance (is that even a thing?) She reads it herself and it is well written but she seems a bit smug about seeing it all coming. Interesting portraits of how these men became rich and the changes in their personalities as they gained money and power.
Jim came by to finish off the income tax return and the amount of the check we had to write to the federal government, or whatever passes for it, is both eye watering and infuriating. Ditto the state which pays more to the feds than it gets back. He also said that it appears that our solar panels and battery don't seem to be connected and aren't generating any power to offset the exorbitant PG&E bills.
I need a drink...
