2025 Saturday — History
Today is the 29th. It's been two months since we had a 29th and it's two months until our May 29 anniversary. That's either some kind of a math equation or maybe it's poetry. I'm not sure which. But I am sure that approaching and soon reaching our 60th wedding anniversary has given us serious reason to pause, to reminisce, to reflect, to wonder, to question.
I married Mr. Fun a long time ago. He was 19 and I was 15. Today I thought about how we've both become real. It's been a lot of hard work and it hasn't always been fun. But I think now, after many years together, we're REAL. So I suppose like the skin horse in the book the Velveteen Rabbit that means we're loose in the joints, very shabby, have little hair, and our eyes are gone. Hum!
I have a greeting card I have sent to Mr. Fun no less than six times. On the cover is a young couple sitting on a street curb and they are all tangled in each others arms "making-out." The inside of the card says, "In public, in private, I just pretty much want you." That card is a keeper. So every few years I mail it to him again. I even mailed it once from Chattanooga, Tennessee, when I went to a conference without him. It is a well traveled card. I think it's time to again send it to him.
Today has been a great, casual, comfortable, nice 29th day of the month. Mr. Fun humored me and said "Yes" when I asked if we could go to a couple of real estate open houses. Those events interest me. He also took me out to dinner. We quietly celebrated as we acknowledged that something loud is happening in our lives.
Well, I hope you've had a lovely extraordinary fabulous 29th day of March.
From California’s Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe and Mitzi too!
