Oops

Plan was - leave Airbnb, head in to Christchurch for brunch and a wander.
We got less than 500m up the road when various warning lights and beeping on our hire car dashboard stopped us. Eek.
Parked up in a pub car park, called the hire office and awaited the roadside assistance. The wait wasn’t too long - with a coffee to keep us going.
Lucky we were close to Christchurch and the car hire office (kept telling ourselves it could have been so much worse). So dropped off sad little car and picked up a replacement and then finally got to eat a late lunch in Christchurch’s Riverside Market. A shorter look round that planned, saw the cathedral under repair after the earthquake - it’s a long job. And a pop in to the botanics. Then we had had enough - it felt like it had been a long day!
So out of town to meet up with our niece Beth and Laura who are house sitting for a week - having just sold their trusty campervan. Had a lovely relaxed chatty evening with them. And some prep for our flight home tomorrow.
