Forget-Me-Nots

I found a small patch of forget-me-nots growing at the side of the footpath this morning..they were still showing the remnants of frost/heavy dew and glistening nicely in the sunshine.

‘Researching’ these flowers I wondered why some have yellow centres and some have white….well apparently the yellow colour is to let bees know that there is nectar available .. and once the bee has visited and pollinated the flower,  the centre turns white so bees are not attracted … wonderful.

Added an extra of some rather splendid willow catkins…
