Relief!
This morning I was into the health centre by 9:30 for my bandage change. When I entered the treatment room the nurse checked what was required. I apologised about my having to book an appointment but they had managed to fit me in. Her reply was "that explains why you are in the middle of my smear clinic".
She carefully removed the big thick bandage and said "oh its looking quite good". I wasn't so sure. If you have a strong stomach look at the extra of the hand unbandaged. She explained that the white skin had been macerated because the amount of bandage had prevented the escape of water vapour. She put on extremely thin dressings and was hoping that would be enough. Finally she decided she had better put the tube on as well. I think I can count 14 stitches.
