Field Mouse-ear

Cerastium arvense

As a child I was told this was Stitchwort so that's what I've always thought of it as, but looking up the Latin name I realise that for decades I've been wrong.  Oh, dear!  It is indeed a close relative and another member of the Pink family, but it's Field Mouse-ear, which I think is a rather wonderful name, don't you?

It's been another beautiful day but I see this long spell of sunshine is coming to an end soon and even - in some parts of the UK - turning to snow.  Don't think I like the sound of that!

Apart from my walk I've gardened and cleaned and had a long natter to my neighbour.  Plus got my first WFW25 blip.  Generally a rather lovely day.  Hope you've had a similarly sunny/peaceful/sociable time  xx
