Gently down the stream

Speckled Wood

A first generation female?  Certainly it's the first speckled wood I've seen this year, though there was another with rather tattered hindwings twirling about her hoping for lurve..

This is a late morning shot in Clausentum Fen.  I also saw the heron planing in for a feast at the edge of the pond, my first red campions of the year and the long-tailed tits - her now sitting on eggs and him feeding her.  So why didn't I get a picture of them?  I did but had the camera on the wrong settings.  Doh!!

This afternoon I spent time in the garden.  There is so much to do, but I have at least cut back the star jasmine, and mown the grass.  And now I shall relax and look at your lovely blips  xx
