Tentatively opening
I was awake by the time JJ went to golf at 7.15 am and thought about going straight out for a walk, but common sense kicked in and I sat in bed for another hour with a cup of tea. Then I washed, dressed and went for a walk.
The wood was lovely in the relatively early morning light and the birds were singing merrily. I even saw a buzzard sitting in a tree deep in the wood. Well it was making a lot of noise.
The bluebells are simply beautiful but the wood isn't tidy so images of a swathe of them just doesn't work. I must say I do prefer them individually in varying stages of opening.
I met an American lady and her dog who I've seen before and we stopped for a short natter. I think she's called Kathleen, although I embarrassed myself by calling her Rebecca. That might be another American lady who walks her dog up here. You can tell I'm getting old.
My Hobbs shoes arrived and fit perfectly, thank goodness. I think very expensive shoes are definitely what I should be buying in future.
Shopping delivered and put away, although I did have to go onto their chat line to complain that I hadn't had the 25% discount on their wine. Soon sorted.
It's a very hot day with only a slight breeze so I'm in and out like a yo-yo. I'm reading a Mick Herron book called Down Cemetery Road, which I'm thoroughly enjoying. Plenty of sarcastic humour.
