Locking It In

A leisurely start to our departure this morning. Mr P and I said our goodbyes to son no 2 and his girlfriend and set off for Surrey. I’m still scarred by our last journey down south (we got caught up in traffic and it took us over 9 hours) so this time we decided to break our journey in Chorley (brief stopover in Moffat first). As it was another hot and sunny day, after lunch in a local café, we opted for a waterside walk along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. It was the first time that I’ve seen how the locks open and close for boats. The barges aren’t speedy and it looked like it would be tough if it was chucking it down instead of sunny, but it did look like the perfect mode of slow travel.
We stocked up on goodies at the local M & S Foodhall as we have a small kitchen in our apartment.
Hopefully it should only take about 4 more hours to get to Claygate tomorrow morning.
