The bridge is gone, but
plans are afoot for something
new in the old place

On September 19/24 a fire destroyed the Red Bridge in  Kamloops.
This morning I wanted to have a look at what remains after the clean up last fall.

I parked in Pioneer Park to have a short walk around the area of the bridge. Much of the access to the bridge area has been fenced off blocking some access to the beach. It's as if the bridge has been made to disappear

I walked a short way on the Rivers Trail that had passed under the Red Bridge. It was odd to look at my mountains without the bridge in between them and the park. The Kamloops Heritage Railway yard looked so different as the bridge overshadowed their yard on the east side of it. I got a shot of the caboose on the edge of the yard. (Old view of the bridge from the east side.)

It was a relief to see the cleanup done. I wonder what damage the fire did to the river and fisheries. It came at a time when the annual salmon run was just beginning. (Aftermath of the bridge fire and collapse.)

It was a very chilly 6 C for a walk along the river this morning. I made it quick and am home for the day. No definite plans.
