Sgwarnog: In the Field

Leopard

Proof that a Leopard cannot change it’s spots, particularly when it is committed to preserving heritage bus liveries.

In Keighley for some football, I noticed several heritage buses in circulation around town, and then when I was walking down to the ground at Marley, I discovered the cause: the bus museum was having an open day. Had I known I might have factored that into my trip, but as it was I just took a few photos of vehicles going past.

This is PJX 232, originally Halifax 232, a 1962 Leopard L1 Weyman B44F (if that means anything to you), in Halifax livery. Or “a nice old bus” if you have the same level of knowledge as myself.

At the football, Bradford City Women were hosting Alnwick Town (extra). City are having a strong season, currently in second place trying to chase down leaders Chester le Street who are a point ahead. If they win all of their remaining games (including a final game at home to the leaders) City will be champions and earn promotion back to the National League.

A quick start saw City 2-0 up inside ten minutes. They should have added to that total, but Alnwick pulled one back before the break against the run of play. Two more for City in the second half meant a comfortable 4-1 win, but with goal difference between the two top teams very tight, they may be rueing some missed chances. Three games to go…
