Victorian séance
This morning Cousin TBay and I went through some random old family photos. Amongst them was this.
The man of interest to me in this shot is the one on the left with the glasses and the beard. He's my great-great grandfather (c1844-1928). He was a cheese merchant in a Preston firm that specialised in Lancashire and Cheshire cheeses. He worked in the business that his grandfather (and my great-great-great-great grandfather born in 1789) set up with temperance activist Joseph Livesey in 1815.
I actually find it quite surprising that my ancestors would participate in a séance. This is because they were staunch Methodists. However, here they are obviously with a spirit...
The weather turned rather chilly overnight so apart for a short walk outside to pet the ponies and the tame lambs, Mr hazelh and I roosted indoors most of the day. Meanwhile TBay prepared a fabulous farm house roast dinner for us. We ate this mid-afternoon. Not long afterwards, we left for the airport and our journey back to Edinburgh.
Apart from forgetting the 'safe place' for my travel card and being forced to pay a tram fare from Edinburgh airport into town, everything went smoothly on the way home. We unpacked and put on the first of three loads of washing before we retired to bed.
We have had a marvellous holiday, greatly helped by the wonderful weather. However, from tomorrow we must return to our usual routine. This will include plenty of exercise again, sensible eating, and definitely no mid-week drinking.
Exercise today: walking (8,448 steps).
