This and That at Easter
Everywhere you look in Edinburgh there are cherry trees dressed in froufrous of pink blossom waiting to be admired. The parks have them, the gardens are bursting with them and there’s even the odd one standing on its own in a cloud of pink hoping to be noticed. On one path through the Meadows someone has thought to mix things up by planting one or two white blossomed trees which only serve to show the neighbouring pink to greater advantage.
I took my courage in both hands this morning and rode the #30 bus to Kinnaird Park. It was in my memory a dodgy bus to enter and I blame the clientele for giving me my only bout of Covid. It’s maybe a cruel thing to say but often in days gone by you could be sharing a seat with a dog or one of the great unwashed. Things have changed since then and I was pleasantly surprised to see all the new house building that taken place en route with a whole host of trees planted bordering the busy road.
Hobby craft was my destination to try and match grey yarn. In the past when I had HL and a car we often paid a visit to the shopping park for coffee and a browse round the book shop which was there then, perhaps getting shopping at M&S into the bargain. It was like time travelling into the past this morning.
On the way home I stopped off to deliver a birthday card and shekels to Theo who is the grand old age of 17 today. The poor boy is hard at work revising for his Higher exams which start for him with Chemistry on May 1st. Nina in Glasgow has her first Higher exam on April 28th- Music. Between them they have 13 exams to sit, the last one being Biology on May 27th. So glad I no longer have to sit exams ever again!
