The Visit

Some days are sent to surprise you and today was one of those days. At first light I made a quick escape into town to exchange a T shirt and buy a retirement card for my GP who is retiring this coming Friday and afterwards I made an even quicker escape back home to have a coffee and a paper read. The day was stretching ahead with no plans until I got a message from Glasgow daughter asking what I was doing today and saying Nina wanted to visit the museum at Surgeon’s Hall and so she (the daughter) was coming through by train with the children and would pop in after the museum.

The sun was shining when they arrived complete with rolls, ham and cheese to make a picnic  lunch for us all which we ate outside. With the last bite, the sun disappeared and we retreated indoors. I heard about their recent trip to the other grandparents in Bath and also about Nina’s bursary to spent 4 weeks at a school in Dresden sometime in the autumn. Then it was time for them to walk through the Meadows and marvel at the cherry blossom before getting back to Glasgow for some Higher Revision time for Nina and supper making for my daughter.
It was a  lovely unexpected visit - it always is with this family because they are such good company.
