THE RETURN
AAAARGGH - I typed a lot of info on here and due to a blip with the wi-fi switching off I lost it all - I will try to recreate now!!
FIRST OF ALL I WANT TO SAY A VERY HUGE THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE MANY OF YOU THAT SENT ME PERSONAL MESSAGES ASKING HOW I WAS. They meant, and still do mean, a lot to me. Blip is an amazing community and reminds me so much of what communities were like when I was growing up, everyone looking out for each other. THANK YOU.
I have now fully completed all my Radiotherapy sessions and all went well. The stay at Bowland House was OK and was so good for us as it saved a huge amount of anxiety and tiredness over travelling over 100 miles on a daily basis. The staff were excellent. The only side effects I've had are a slight itchiness around the affected area, but what I wasn't totally prepared for was the huge emotional and anxiety impact it had on me, which is why it is takint me time to come back.
We made it in time for holiday with two days to spare. The jourey up wasn't great, simply due to the fact that on the Scottish motorways was came across 6 different sets of roadworks, the last two being stop start for some ways. Still we mostly kept going. We went over the Kincardine Bridge and visited Culross. It was heaving with people and we only just managed to squeeze into a parking space. We were lucky though as went for lunch in one of the few cafes we found and within a few minutes of us sitting down there were queues out of the door!!! We went from there to Tescoes in Cupar to get our weekly shopping before heading to oour holiday cottage.
The cottage was SUPERB - absolutely perfet for us. It was on a working farm in the middle of nowwhere up above Anstruther and Pittenweem with fantastic views over the Firth of the Forth. So very peaceful and perfect for us.
We enjoyed having those few days to simply relax and pootle around the pretty fishing villages of the East Neuk of Fife, Pittenweem, Anstruther, Crail and St Andrews Castle. The weather was OK - we made it out every day. The only bad morning we had we visited a nearby Distillery in Kingsbarns. We had a personal guided tour, which was actually very very interesting as it included some of the history of the region. Neither of us are Whisky drinkers but it was still an interesting tour and it has a lovely cafe. We went to Crail for the afternoon and nearly got blown away - but it didn't rain and it was exhilerating and so beautiful.
Most importantly we made it to our Great Niece's Wedding on the Thursday, which went off very informally and smoothly and ended up being a brighty sunny afternoon from the moment the bride stepped out of the car onward. We are so grateful to Rosemere Cancer Foundation for getting everything sorted for us to be able to attend and I know Amy and Rob's Sister (her Grandmother) were over the moon that we could make it after all as it was very important to them (and us)
The journey home was so much better and much smoother, even though we went over the Queensferry Crossing to pick Garron up at The Steadings in Biggar Road at the start of the Pentland Hills.
It is now so nice to be home and not having to pack and upack again. Have so much to sort out that it is going to take some time, but we are still taking things as steady as we can.
Garron is now with us for his 2-3 weeks respite care break, which we are honoured to be able to help support him.
On Easter Sunday we went over to Morecambe but not to visit my Mum as she was being taken out but to surprise our Artist friend Carolyn Edwards (brilliant artist) who had a stall at the local ComiCon and she was delighted to see us. Whilst there we paid a visit to a nearby stall by the current cartoonist of The Beano (yep it's still going strong) and I couldn't resist getting Nigel Parkinson to do this cartoon of Garron in the vein of Dennis The Menace!!!!
I hope I am now back full time. Ido have a couple of things going but not health related.
SO I AM BACK. I have missed you all so much and as I have already said, It meant so much getting those messages from you, I'm sorry I wasn't in a good enough place to respond to you all personally but I AM HERE NOW.
Do take care and hopefully I will see you all tomorrow.
