Scarlet Lily Beetle
Lirioceris lilli. Drat. I was wandering in the garden thinking how pleased I am with the insect life (I'm not feeding the birds at the moment and they need fuel) when I saw this pest. Not the insect I want to find. I've cropped this a lot so that you can see the ragged edge of the leaf it's been chomping on so its face isn't as sharp as I'd like. My lovely fritillaries.
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to patrol the garden to spot and dispose of these pests because early tomorrow morning we're heading north and west for 10 days. I'm hoping to bring you some interesting blips. The garden will have to look after itself. I've done what I can with seedlings. I know that by the time we get home there'll be a riot of plants but I can always sort it out in due course.
I'm intrigued to see if the heatwave reaches our destinations. That could well happen which would be wonderful.
Today involves a lot of preparation for, all being well, an exciting time.
