Harry .....
..... having a smoke.
After a late night last night watching the ISS and Perseid meteor shower I had a bit of a lie-in this morning before getting a few household chores out of the way and then processing and uploading the star trail photo that I mentioned on yesterday's blip.
At lunch time I had a trip in to Leeds to pick up some photos from Jessops. Their photo printing machine had been out of action since last week but they had just got it working again when I arrived, or at least they said it was fixed. The photos I went to collect were terrible, they all had a blue hue ( even the monos ) and had no detail or quality to them at all, there were even black lines running through some of the prints and areas of the photos that hadn't been printed at all. They said it was because my photos had been processed with software, I shoot all my photos in RAW format so they either go through Nikon's own software or Lightroom to process them and create the Jpeg files. As far as I'm aware once a file is a Jpeg it should be readable the same as any other Jpeg file.
Jessops reprinted the photos putting the card straight in to the printer rather than through one of their computers which improved the quality a bit but they were still fairly crappy. I decided to head to Boots and try the same images on one of their machines and they came out perfect. I think I may have to try a few more places and compare the quality of prints.
After all the faffing about trying to sort out prints I had a very late lunch in the Chinese meats place in Leeds market before having a walk around and a bit of a street photography session to put me in a better mood. Harry here was stood outside one of the pubs on Boar Lane having a smoke and kindly agreed to let me take his photo. I've put a couple more photos from today in a set here, but today's blip is .....
..... Harry having a smoke.
