Day 9
This little gem is the entry to the third iteration of the theater in down town Park City, the "Egyptian", the previous two being destroyed by fires. (There seems to have been a lot of fires in early Park City!) This was built in the 1920's and they even brought in a consulting Egyptologist from the state of Washington! At the time it was used for operas, boxing, traveling shows, local theatrical groups and events and had a bowling alley in the lower (basement) level! (Bowling in the 1920's? Who knew?) Today it is a movie theater. Apparently in need of a new owner with some cash.
Out front of the Egyptian today is a street art fair. almost 300 artists putting out their wares, and a major social event for the locals. I've never seen so many "dressed up" mountain people!
Having never been to Park City in the summer we wondered what on earth we would do with a whole week... now, with two days left we're hoping to slow time down a bit. There is a lot to see and do in this area.
