Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

He's talking!

A wander round town today - and it was heavin’. It’s traditionally the busiest weekend, being an English Bank Holiday, and thank goodness the predicted rain didn’t eventuate and it was warm. Everywhere was mobbed!

Saw several great street artists - a couple of lads who juggled and played ukeleles - often at the same time. They were very cute and amusing. There was a woman who waved streamers around while doing sideways splits - EEEK! Statues everywhere. I heard a new verb - ‘flyering’ as in ‘I’ve just been flyering on the Mile, and I’ll meet you in Ryan’s’…

Popped into My Club for a respite from the mayhem in town. Picked up my free tickets for the Fireworks - I won them. And no, that’s not yesterday’s Very Exciting News…

Went to visit Leo and his mum and dad, not having got there in the summer holidays. What a big boy he is now! He was shy at first, then clambered on top of me (what a weight he is now!) and went straight for my (Pandora) bracelet, which he always loved, found and pointed to the tiny owl and spoke!!

‘There’s the owl,' he chirruped.

Then he turned it over and said,
‘There’s the owl’s bum.’

I was amazed and shouted to his mum, who was making me a cuppa,
‘He’s TALKING!’

This didn’t seem news to her. Leo loved my camera, and took several shots by tapping the screen.

I had a bit of trouble choosing today, but in the end I went for a street scene. An Edinburgh in August street scene. I had to wait ages for a brief lack of passers by.

JR is laid low with the back-to-school lurgy. It came over all of a sudden yesterday evening. In fact, we did not quaff the celebratory champagne as intended, as I did not think it wise I could drink a whole bottle on my own. Though I did open a screw top wine... The bubbly is still chillin'.
