Fun in the sun, Cumbrian style

We went to Gilsland show today - it's an agricultural show with all the usual contests for prettiest sheep, best cake, tastiest jam etc. In our part of the world they add some wrestling into the mix, which was a lot of fun. There are more shotshere, including one of ladies wrestling. I couldn't not post this shot though - just for the guy's pants!

Some of the bouts were quite unevenly matched, like this one where the big man didn't even bother trying to tip the be-panted guy over his knee, but just picked him up and placed him gently on the ground. The hadn't planned any ladies events, but there was an upsurge of feminism that had to be listened to. I think the judges had to have a whip round between them to come up with the prize money for the hastily arranged 'Girls 11 years to 16 years' contest.
