Why I'm not baking
Or washing up
Or tidying up
Or getting the weekend's meagre photographic offerings off the camera - will backblip at some point
My photomojo has totally deserted me so although today has been rather beautifully photogenic it hasn't been captured by me at all.
We put the tent up in the garden this morning to let it dry out before it was packed away and stored (I hope Steve remembered to bring it indoors) - it took up the entire width of the garden, and reached the climbing frame. Top of the list of requirements for the next house is a garden adequately big enough to dry out the tent. Bear was distraught, I think he thought he was losing mummy and daddy. He is tired.
I picked blackberries, Bear foraged for late raspberries, I dug up potatoes (there weren't many but the soil wasn't very nutricious - I've added some compost to the soil now, not that we'll make any use of that!), done lots of laundry, and have invested in some coconut oil, stevia and ground almonds in my continuing attempt to make the baked goods I love so much be slightly less of an issue for my blood sugars and overall health. The chocolate courgette loaf (gluten, grain and dairy free) went down well although I need to remember to pretty much puree the courgette rather than just grate it next time. Bean was not impressed at it having "bits of cucumber" in it. Shortbreadalike is next on my list of things to try!
Blessed by friends this afternoon when they brought round a beautiful piece of salmon for us, freshly filleted and ready to cook. Steve did it justice and it was beautiful. We had it with potatoes from the garden, peas, and celeriac mash. Utterly beautiful dinner. Didn't need dessert, and still feeling satiated now!
Don't feel like I've been a great mum today though. My patience has been low, and I've been struggling with feeling touched-out which is probably a direct result of both boys for whatever reasons needing an excess of physical connection with me at the moment. It is draining, so in that respect I'm glad my eating is healthy and I'm not experiencing so many spikes snd dips in my blood sugar which used to exacerbate the tired touched-out irritation.
Here's to tomorrow. PYO in the morning - pethaps I'll get more foraging pictures...
