Inspiration

The great monolith that is King's Cross. Opened in 1852 it was built as the London hub of the Great Northern Railway and terminus of the East Coast main line. It took its name from the King's Cross area of London, named after a monument to King George IV that was demolished in 1845. I love this huge great block of a building and its warm yellow bricks, and the contrast of the arched windows with their beautifully detailed ironwork. Its hugely inspiring ...as was my day at the Institute of International Environment and Development – I have learned much.
