Evening Sun on Vilnius Cathedral

The Cathedral's Basilica is Lithuania's most important sanctuary and was around for the beginning of Lithuania in 1387.

I'm in Vilnius for some meetings today and tomorrow. Arrived in Vilnius in the late afternoon (local time) from London via Copenhagen and went for a walk before trying to find something to eat.

The old part of the city is very nice with a lot of old buildings, which have clearly been renovated not too long ago. For a great view of the city a good place to go is Gediminas' Tower. The tower is located on a 48 metre high hill next to the river and can be accessed via a small funicular.

The tower is named after the City's founder, Gediminas, the Grand Duke of Lithuania. The tower is the only remaining part of the upper castle which stood here from the 10th to the late 14th century.
