What a wonderful world...

Boats and icecream

A bit of a classic image from Derwent Water but the boats did look lovely. We stopped to eat our icecreams, or in toddler's case just smear it over his face, t-shirt and the pushchair, and watched the world go by in the glorious sunshine.

Started the day by heading for Pooley Bridge (I have fond recollections of the pub there) but got distracted by the clouds shrouding the top of the mountains above Patterdale and Brothers Water. Hence a detour to explore what Kirkstone Pass looked like. A bit disappointing, once you're in a cloud it's less exciting than seeing it from 3 miles away. Anyway, then set off for Pooley Bridge where we had a stop in a very nice tea shop and toddler fed his toasted teacake to the ducks. A wander alongside Ullswater followed, cue more paddling and throwing stones in the lake.

Back to Keswick for the afternoon and then a leisurely stroll down to Derwent Water and Friar's Crag for the late afternoon sun. Rather a lazy day today, might attempt something more energetic/high up/dramatic tomorrow before the rain that's forecast for Friday comes in.
