Fancy Free

Both free and fancy, that is. I found this medicine cabinet outside the house of a neighbor who was moving, several months ago. It wore a tag that read, "TAKE."

But it had no shelves, and there were still some traces of paint on it. Someone had worked toward restoring it, but the door and shelves took a wrong turn.

I had a nice hardwood board (obtained free, somewhere) waiting in the basement for years, and I made shelves of it. then I sanded a bit, scraped a little, and called it done.

Now this pretty old object sits alongside the mail-sorting place inside my entrance. I put some Shakespeare paperbacks, a flashlight, and an Osage orange in it.

It looks good!
