Joss Bay, Isle of Thanet
We did something that we'd not done for a very long time - had a day on the beach and went swimming in the sea. Today was supposed to be the last warm day of the current very warm spell so we thought we'd make the best of the day.
Having had a picnic on the beach last week and stopped here at Joss Bay on Monday for lunch when cycling around the Isle of Thanet we were on a roll and so Joss Bay it was. We packed up all the paraphenalia required and headed down, fortunately avoiding all the traffic horrors (Sheppey Bridge and M20).
Found that Thanet Council wanted £8.00 to park on the cliff top car park above Joss Bay so we joined 70 other cars parked on the adjacent road for nothing.
The day was just amazing, warm unbroken sunshine, a great picnic and with the water temperatures being around 18C just right for swimming. Great fun. Followed by a couple of cups of tea courtesy of the Trangia, a slice of Genoa cake and a biscuit.
Left around 6.00pm when it was still warm with people still coming down to enjoy the beach and water in the balmy evening.
