Freaky Wall
Finally, here it is. Prague's freaky wall. The Wallenstein Garden was built by Albrecht of Wallenstein and divided into several major parts (check back to see the pond). This is an artificial rock or dripstone wall in the 'secret garden'. The aim was to create a "secretive and mysterious area where elements of artificial and real living nature mingled and contrasted, where the feeling of uncertainty was heightened by the startling images of frogs, snakes, monsters, grotesquely formed faces and various kinds of animals hidden in the recesses of the dripstone wall. The illusion of mystery and uncertainty was further enhanced by numerous illusionary hints suggesting the wall might be penetrable by secret corridors or passageways."
So, there you have it. (The quoted blurb is from a plaque in the garden.)
The joys of the early Italian baroque garden here in beautiful Prague.
