Backups
Well I learned my lesson last month about losing data, so now I'm taking the Stelvio data just a little more seriously.
Read about Drobos years ago and always liked the sound of having a raid array where you could just add any old drive and it added itself, and I always liked the sound of kit that I didn't have to understand either. Good old Ebay and you can find just about anything for not a lot.
The other odd thing is that we're getting inquires for last years photos. Not massive numbers of emails (just a handful), but it shows that the old data needs to be kept safe as well.
The final consideration is that I cannot have just one backup - if it got stolen or goes bang I'd be in a world of hurt, so I bought 2 Drobos. Eventually the top Drobo will be hidden in a wall.
So for the last 3 days I've been backing up data. When the bottom unit is ready, I'll do a simply rsync to the top drive and then go hide it in the wall. (And hopefully the long cable to hide it with will have arrived.).
