Between fen and mountains

As planned, I went down to the river to pick the blackberries I had spotted yesterday. I wished I had taken a gardening glove and a walking stick with a hook on the end of it. As it was, I had to dangle perilously over the river wall over which the brambles were growing and stretch for the best fruit which was, of course, just out of reach! I then walked the whole length of the river section looking for more but found nothing - lots of brambles but no fruit. Still, I got enough for a pie or some purée and, anyway, the walk in the sunshine would have been reward enough.
