Husband and Heron
Walked in the Newhall Valley today with husband - much beauty to love, but chose this heron that we almost always see when we walk there, and don't think I've ever blipped. He (?) was standing in the water, and only flew off when I slipped on the grassy bank, trying to get closer whilst avoiding the nettles.
The word "heron" is old and of uncertain origin, but may derive from the Latin aerius meaning aerial - and he certainly is impressive to watch in the air.
