We were in Perpignan today. The morning was given over to a visit to the annual photo journalism event that takes the city over for a fortnight. There was a few excellent retrospectives including one on Don McCullin as well as a great deal of contemporary photo reportage of the highest quality. My only criticism would be that it was unremittingly harrowing. In previous years, there has been a better balance between natural disaster and war reporting and other photography, ethnographic, the natural world etc. Mrs TT chose to rest as she is recovering from a bad fall and was preoccupied with the MRI scan she had to undergo in the afternoon. Fortunately, the scenario she most feared was avoided.
