Cassiopeia

There is an image here. best viewed large and in low light.

A late image for a late blip.

Nothing on TV so outside with camera and tripod, but, with no expectation of getting a useable image. I tried paying out with the unreasonable high ISO that the 5D3 can go to. While you can get an image that you can recognise things in, the noise levels at 102400ISO are pretty high. But, if you needed to get an image of someone in the street without using flash, then 1/40sec at f4 is easily achievable.

I read on DPReview yesterday about a camera that works down to 0.01Lux. How dark is that.

This image shows Cassiopeia to the north. There's still a lot of noise to reduce, but with some sharpening, tweaking of levels etc and the mass of stars in the night sky starts to jump out. I have previously only got half decent photos on a telescope equatorial mount and drive to counter the rotation of the earth.

Viewed Large you can see the awesome number of points of light out there.

Will have to try this again on a moonless night. Tonight wasn't ideal but I'm quite amazed!
