Ruminating in Ross
We have spent a wonderful day in Herefordshire. We started in Ledbury where we witnessed a very poignant battle of Britain parade from the Market Square. This was followed by a visit to some of the "h-Art Herefordshire's Open Studio Week" venues, including a Dumbledore-alike utilising Victorian letterpresses and a range of arts and crafts at Canon Frome Court.
Throughout the day, we were guided expertly by Emma, who is making a point of visiting all the participating artists, chatting with them and finding out their stories and photographing them and their work. I took my camera along and took a few snaps, none of which will stand up to scrutiny against hers!
Andrew is my new bro-in law and Emma is his lovely significant other; Emma's three children are bundles of delights. They live in a great country house in Ross-on-Wye with horses, chickens and a cat. They are surrounded by rolling countyside. Already envious? So are we! She served a home-made afternoon tea for us on a dining room table (which wouldn't have looked out of place at Hogwarts) and sent us on our way home with butterfly buns stuffed with jam and cream! One woman wonder!
Andrew gave me some tips on using my camera, and found some funky features which I shall be trying out soon. He also took this photograph ; I've stolen it! I did take some chicken and duck pictures which were OK and one I planned to use - Ella with a rather phallic apple (it was blurred) and right now I'm just too bushed to try anything else.
It's been a great day - invite us back soon guys!
Oh and "Happy Birthday Poppa Higgins!"
