Ruby Falls

1100 feet underground is Ruby Falls, discovered in 1928 and the largest 'indoor' waterfall in North America apparently.

We left Chattanooga glad to be back in daylight and headed to Nashville.

The temperature reached 102 degrees this afternoon on our journey, it was too hot to get out of the car to eat lunch; we cranked up the air conditioning praising the makers of our Chevy Cruz rented car.
Of course, that kind of heat can only mean one thing; we arrived in Nashville in heavy rain that has not let up all night.

We are staying two nights in East Nashville in what is essentially is a large shed at the bottom of a garden, but in reality is an absolutely beautiful self-contained flat with every mod con and an owner who has excellent taste. It comes complete with a record player and a stack of classic albums ( what else would you expect in music city?). We have already had a spin of TRex and Johnny Cash.

Drove around to get our bearings of the city a bit and attempted to narrow down the list of places we want to see; we're never going to fit it all in, but we are definitely going to try our hardest....
