Winging In For Breakfast

I got up close and personal to capture this tiny hummingbird coming in to land on the sugar water feeder this morning.

It's a black-chinned hummer and is no more than three inches long.  Looks bigger, eh?  That's what happens when you zoom on the little thing from about only four feet away!

I'm going to spend some time stalking them before the end of the month. I think that's when the good folks at Madera Canyon take down the feeders for the season. The birds are thus encouraged to begin their migrations south and not stay for the food.
