Pigeon Forge

Left Nashville this morning and headed for the Great Smokey Mountains national park, via Pigeon Forge and to Gatlinburg. B had described the area to me as Heidi meets hillbilly so I was expecting a quaint, romantic little mountain hideaway......

....if Nashville's Broadway felt a bit like a theme park, then Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are a living and breathing Las Vegas of the South (or for those of you in the UK), sort of like Blackpool on acid.
To reach Gatlinburg we crawled through the ten mile drag that is Pigeon Forge, made famous by Dolly Parton, slack-jawed with disbelief.

We saw an enormous scale model of the Titanic on the side of the road, about 75 different versions of crazy golf, and my personal favourite, an advert for a mind reading pig.
All this, but you can't buy a drink on Sundays.
