Day 27 – Bonne Bay Marine Research Centre, NL
We arrived in Newfoundland nice and early and were already amazed by the scenery within our first 5 minutes! It is beautiful here. After a long drive up the western coast, we stopped off at Bonne Bay where we took a guided tour of a marine research centre. It sits at the intersection of two huge fjords, both carved out by glacial erosion. Some parts of Bonne Bay are up to 200m deep which has enabled marine life to thrive that is not normally found in the region. Our guide Dave was very knowledgeable and introduced us to some of the local marine life including these two snow crabs. The one on the left is a fully grown male, the one on the right is a fully grown female! What a difference!
We continued north to the next town, Rocky Harbour which is a small town located within Gros Morne National Park where we will be staying for the next 2 nights.
