Meet Wed. Her scarf, with the tiny love hearts, caught my eye when she walked past me and I stopped her in mid-step asking for her photo…
"Oh, but I'm not very photogenic," she replied.
"Are you serious? Trust me, you so are. Where are you from?"
"Saudi Arabia"
So before I had taken any pictures, we had a long chat about her country. I have been there a couple of times so I told her my experiences of it and we contrasted it to here, and Leeds.
Wed is studying Genetics at the University and plans to go back to RSA to carry on her research and expand her field back home. I told her that was very commendable, and asked her whether it would be difficult, given the strict laws in the country. She said a lot has changed in the last decade with regards to women, it is definitely a positive change but there was still a few things she couldn't do.
"Like Driving?" I asked.
"Yes," she laughed "Driving isn't allowed, in the city anyway. But I don't mind, I have a chauffeur."
