Gardening

Mum has a company who come and work on the community gardens 2 or 3 times a week, and who come out and fix the numerous problems that occur with the garden's irrigation system. This young man is one of the gardeners - its not Leonardo Di Caprio!!!

Anyway, in blazing 40 degree heat at 5pm today, he was working the irrigation system, with another young man - for somebody who perhaps had an eye for it, there were a couple of "Diet Coke" moments when the two of them were covered in the spray from the sprinklers.

I have eyes only for my plumber though :-)

Corin and I are off to the Taberna shortly for a drinkie - James is staying at mums tonight.

And finally ...mum is pretty dedicated to ensuring the community runs well and that things like the irrigation system works effectively - this often means that she prowls round the gardens at midnight, with her torch, fixing joints that have come away and doing inspections.

Last night, she managed to scare the bejeezus out of one of the german residents, Erica, who I have to say is NOT a pleasant woman in any way, shape or form. (I have seen Erica forcibly drag people off the grass when they have been sat in the shade minding their business (back when Erica's husband was the President of the estate). She offered James some sweets when he was about 3 years old - he politely declined, and later said he didn't want to take sweets from her because she wasn't a nice lady!) Mum was stood under a tree, in the dark, when Erica came up for a midnight dip - she walked past mum, and mum said "Hello" and Erica jumped out of her skin.

Shortly afterwards, two other neighbours, who are equally difficult and two faced, were out crawling on their hands and knees on the grassed area outside their house, checking to see if the irrigation was working (so that they could come and complain to mum which they do on at least a weekly basis) - they didn't know mum was stood there, so she scared them too!!!! Serves them right.

Booze bought - 3 litres of Famous Grouse for 30 Euros, 1 litre of gin for 10 Euros and two bottles of very nice brandy for my dad (birthday present - yeah - 2 bottles dad!). And lots of Saffron.

Shower and walk to the taberna now - only 3 more nights left after tonight :-(
