Ancient Olive
At Pont du Gard, a spectacular Roman Aqueduct and one of the 'great sites' in France. PaulaJ has blipped this.
Close by are these Olive Trees. The badly eroded carved block of stone close by said they dated from 908. So they are over 1300 years old and still growing healthily. I asked at the information place and I think they were brought from Spain soon after the 1789 French Revolution and planted here. However my inadequate grasp of the subtleties of French may have prevented true clarity!
Anyway they certainly look that old!
