Mum on Rhyl and knitting with matchsticks
Walked to Mum's today to check she was ok as it was rather windy and she had said she was going to the local shops today when I saw her last night. Just as I got to where she lives, she was coming around the corner so I walked back with her....made her a cup of tea and put her shopping away. At nearly 93 she is very independent and likes her walks but doesn't like a strong wind as she gets worried she will get blown over as she has to use a walking stick.
I thought I would do her nails for her whilst I was there and put my in my lap on record as she likes to reminisce. Today she was remembering her school days in Rhyl, North Wales. She made me laugh when she told me that she made a pudding in cookery class and it made her poor father ill! Next day, a girl in her class brought Mum's pudding back... it had her name on it...she said. Poor daddy. he had only eaten it because I made it....
Next she was chatting about her Aunt teaching her to knit with metal knitting needles ...turned out she was allergic to the metal but her uncle used to but extra long matches so she used the spent matchsticks to knit clothes for her penny doll x
My mum is priceless ...love her to bits
