What's going on?

We had a longer walk this morning following circular walk no 7 from Bradford's Millennium way. I did this as linear walks in 2011 but have never done any of the related circular walks. The book stated this was a 5 mile walk but after 2 hrs and 45 mins non of us believed it CorinthianColumn's pedometer said 7 miles and it felt like it!

Starting in Oxenhope we climbed onto the moors past Penistone Hill and the visibility, initially murky, became very poor. We saw this peeking out from behind a tree as we past the houses at Moor Edge after we had crossed the road where we saw this sign in the distance. On our return to the village it was much easier to see as we were nearer, but this time from the back.

Can you make out what it says and is referring to? Anyone from Yorkshire should know!
